Isn’t this little bunny rabbit really cute! I made many different versions to find the best shape. I also showed the designs in my crochet Facebook group to get opinions about them. This is the result! There’s a step by step video to show you how to crochet it and a written pattern with a crochet chart.
How many rabbits can I crochet in 2 hours? Crochet challenge!
The rabbit could be equally an Easter decoration or used on baby and children’s items.
Use the rabbit motif for
- Easter cards
- Easter table decoration
- Coasters
- Starch the bunnies and hang in window or doorway
See my video about starching crochet using white glue - Sew on baby blanket or shawl
- Sew on child’s clothing – e.g. as a patch in jeans
- Baby mobile
- Bunting in a child’s room
- Children’s parties: as decoration, prizes or in going-away party bags
Tell me in the comments of other uses that come to your mind!
See the free video link further down the page or get the written pattern and chart in my Ravelry or Etsy stores!

The rabbit is mainly in double crochets (US crochet term) but for the shaping I have used different sizes of stitches. I used mercerized cotton yarn and a crochet hook size 3 mm.That way the rabbit is 9 cm (3½ in) high.
You can use any yarn and hook but the size of your rabbit will depend on the yarn used. I like to use the bright coloured aluminium hooks but if I have a larger project, I prefer hooks with an ergonomic handle.
If you make the rabbits for a baby, I would suggest you sew on eyes or if you choose to use a button or a bead, make sure it is very tightly sewn on!
You can also make a lovely baby decoration or baby mobile by crocheting or sewing two rabbits together.

Thank you, glad you like it!
These are cute! I have not tried one yet,but I was thinking starch it, add a safety pin to the back and wear it on my coat lapel.
Oh, that’s a great idea to wear it as a broach!
I Love You rabbit was just wondering if you have it in written pattern😀
Unfortunately not at the moment anyway. Maybe I will write one eventually.
Hello they are look so cute. I will try it definately and post picture. Thank you.
That’s great!
Thanks for the beautiful rabbit tutorial. I love it! I Just made one and it looks great.
That’s great, happy to hear you made it 🙂
This is lovely, my friends & I are making springtime bunting for our neighbourhood, I think these rabbits would look fabulous stitched onto that! Thank you for the pattern.
Springtime bunting sounds lovely, would love to see a photo when you have finished it!
Do you have a written pattern yet?
Unfortunately not, at the moment I don’t know when I will make one. I have got so many comments on social media about how clear the video is that I’m not sure a written pattern will be needed.
Tuula very cute!! Bad thing is not everyone can watch vids for different reasons so written patterns are essential to crochet.
Yes, I’m aware that not everyone can use videos. I mainly cater for those who do. A written pattern takes so much more time with having to find testers and proof readers. What I normally do is wait to see if a video pattern turns out to be very popular and then make a written pattern at some later stage. I will make one for this bunny for Easter next year because it has got thousands of views very quickly after publishing.
I have made 10 of these super cute bunnies and am going to use them to make a little banner. Your tutorial is AMAZING!! Thank you so much!
Thank you, so glad to hear! Would be great to see photos of the bunnies, I hvae posted some on Instagram using hashtag crochetbunny!
Hi you make it look really easy i’m definatly going to try and make them enjoyed watching thankyou
Thank you, I’m sure you will manage to make some no problem!
Tuula, I just made your bunny rabbit applique and it is just so adorable!! I love it so much! could you please add it to ravelry…its the only way i can keep patterns/projects and keep/share pics as well esp since my computer crashed! Thanks so much
Thank you for reminding me, added it to Ravelry! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bunny-rabbit-applique-2
Thank you for sharing this video. Very well explained and easy to follow. I have done only one so far but of course will be doing many more in various colours. My grand daughter just loves these motifs and all crocheted things I do for her. I’m sure she’s going to love this bunny!
That’s great to hear! Good your granddaughter likes them, so make many for her 🙂
You said that you don’t think that a written pattern is needed. For those of us that are hearing impaired, yes, written patterns ARE needed! Some of us are used to being discriminated against, well, this just seems like one more place. I, and I am sure many others, ARE in need of written directions. It feels like the response you get from social media is more important to you, though. I was ready to share my fabulous idea for this pattern, but not anymore! I am unable to follow the video, therefore unable to make it.
Sorry you weren’t able to follow the video. Did the subtitles not work well on your computer? I will need to take a look after the Easter holidays if there are mistakes in the autogenerated subtitles.
Yes, of course, many people need and want written instructions. Just like I myself don’t use a pattern unless there is a chart, I find written instructions so unpleasant to use. What I meant is that the worls is full of crochet instructions, and each designer needs to select the method of delivering those that seems the most natural to them. One person uses written, another one charts, another one videos 🙂
I love your bunnies. Thank you!!
Thank you, happy that you like them!
Very Nice! Thank you for the pattern! 😉

Hallo,
gibt es denn zu diesem tollen Hasen auch ein Zählmuster ?
Oder eine Beschreibung ?
Hello,
is there a counting pattern for this great rabbit?
Or a description?
Hello Dagmar, there is the free video for the rabbit or you can also buy the written pattern that has a crochet diagrma of the rabbit. It is either at Ravelry https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/bunny-rabbit-applique-2 or in Etsy https://www.etsy.com/listing/642249779/crochet-pattern-for-bunny-rabbit. Happy that you like the rabbit!
I found this tutorial while searching for a back view of a bunny that I had seen and couldn’t find again, Yours is just brilliant. Your spoken words are not over-fussy but very clear, the photography is excellent and, even if I could not hear, the close-up view is so good that I can count the stitches.
All in all the best tutorial that I have watched. Thank you.
Thnak you so much, really glad to hear! (Sorry or not answering earlier!!)
I just made a bunny using 4 ply worsted weight yarn with an F hook because my craft room is snowed in and I cannot get to it yet. I will be using a smaller hook and lighter yarn to make bunnies to go with my Easter basket I crocheted to put on Easter cards. I will send you a pic when I can get one made. Thank you so much! It’s exactly the pattern I was searching for.
Hope you can soon get to your craft room again from the snow!! Great to hear you are making these bunnies, looking forward to seeing photos! You can send one on the blog email or tag me on Instagram @tuulamaaria.
Thank you, your explanations are really clear.
I will give the link on my blog.
I’ve only had a problem with the ears, the second is farer of the nos 🙂
I will do anothers…
Glad that you like it, hope the next one works out perfectly! 🙂
