Add interesting and pretty decorations to customize your crocheted wind spinner! You can use this pattern and video tutorial for crocheting the windspinner to crochet your wind spinner. This pattern is different from most in that one of the rows saves you time and yarn!

Adding decorations to hang from the wind spinner also increases its weight, so the spinner rotates better.

TIP: Make sure you hang the wind spinner using durable, fine thread or yarn. The thread also needs to be long enough so the spinner doesn’t get too close to where you hang it from. I would say a minimum of 10 cm (4 in).

Decorate your wind spinner

Choose from these ideas to hang at the bottom of your wind spinner. You can also combine several of these for one wind spinner.

  • Tassel
    • Yarn
    • Ribbons
  • Pompon
  • Bell
  • Bow
  • Beads
  • Dangling chains
  • Crochet flower, heart, star, snowflake or other shape
  • Small amigurumi
  • Glass diamond or chrystal
  • Feathers
  • Small pinecone
  • String of buttons
  • Sequins
  • Vintage key

My favorite combination right now is tiny colourful crochet flowers with glass beads because they move beautifully outdoors.

Enjoy working on your wind spinners!
